IF I WAS FAMOUS by Nancy Chen

    If i was famous….

“Oh, can you please take a selfie with me?? Please?”
I was famous. I did nothing to get to this stage, but I am FAMOUS now. EVERYONE was asking for a photo and autographs, even though I’m only 11. I mean, who has a autograph when your only 11? But, to be honest, I was really enjoying this. Being the star of the show has an amazing feeling. No matter where I go, there would be people around me. If felt like they were protecting me or something.

The next day, as soon as I stepped outside the house, people took photos of me. Today I was walking to school and every step I took, a click of a camera would click behind me. I know it isn’t a big deal walking to school, but today, I took the littlest steps I could.
At school, the teaches were talking about me, kids were whispering about me (I’m pretty sure they were talking good things about me) and for the rest of the day, people sucked up to me like I was a human vacuum cleaner. But, that wasn't the weirdest part. Ashley Lewis, the biggest drama queen in the whole school even came up to me and said,
“OMG! I can’t believe your famous! Like girl, isn’t that a dream come true?”
“Uh, not really” I answered. I could tell she wanted me to say ‘yes, it is a dream come true’ but it isn’t really. Luckily, before Ashley could make a scene, one of my little friends ( a kid around me) said,
“Ugh, Ashley stop trying to make a scene. We all know you’re a drama queen and lipstick addicted SNOB, so back off.”
I couldn’t believe that girl just said that. Before today, everyone was trying to be her friend and they were being nice to her, but not today! Ashley paused and thought
“Well, I’m sorry for trying to make a scene.. NOT, but have you tried seeking some professional help?
And there Ashley blobs again. Before she knew it, I walked off and bought the whole group with me.

For the next 5 weeks, the same thing happened over and over again. It was getting ridiculous. I know it sounds great and all, but really, I’m starting to hate this. Getting photo taken everyday is nuts. Listening to people constantly asking me for my autograph is bonkers. Getting followed by everyone from one place to another is just annoying. People copying my food and actions everyday is freaky. This had to be stopped...but how?

“Try going to the supermarket to get a brain” my big sister Rachel says
She’s usually good with advice, but she sometimes is a blabbermouth and gives me ridiculous answers. Like today.
I didn’t want to be famous anymore. It’s so creepy. You look outside your window and there's just a crowd of people waiting there for you. I told my situation to my mum, but her answer was just as ridiculous as Rachel’s
“Honey, this is what being a celebrity feels like! Imagine someone like Kim Kardashian or Prince Harry. Imagine their life.”
    “Not helping mum” I replied
I only had one thing left to do, quit my celebrity life.

“Hey girl! Whatcha doin’ today?” asked a girl from my class.
“Oh, hi. Umm, I’m doing school today” I said
“Oh” she sounded disappointed “what happened to your celebrity voice tone?”
She was right. I had a awfully different voice when I was famous.
“The thing is t-that I quit being a celebrity”
    “What?! No way!”
“Uh, yeah” I did sound upset and all, but I was desperate
“No, I mean no way you can’t quit being famous. You can’t just say I don’t want to be famous and then poof, your not famous anymore!”
She was right. I sighed and stared at the grey floor.
The girl shot a disapproving glance at me and continued
“You know what? If you don’t appreciate people that adore you, then just say so! Like the other day, a girl saved you from getting a massive hit by Ashley”
I looked up and saw that this girl was serious.
“It's not I don’t like those people, it’s just that I don’t like what they do. Follow me from day to night, copying me and taking photos of me”
“THEN JUST SAY SO!” she screamed. Loud enough the whole school could've heard. She then kicked a random bag, stomped away and shouted,
“HEY, SCHOOL, THIS CELEBRITY DOESN'T LIKE GETTING FOLLOWED, COPIED OR SIGNING AUTOGRAPHS, SO PLEASE LEAVE HER ALONE!”
The whole school nodded and quickly scurried away.
“Thank you very much” I said. This time the thank you I said probably worthed one million dollars.
